What are the methods of image stabilization for mobile phone cameras?

While smartphone cameras now boast pixel counts approaching those of digital cameras, their smaller size means they lack certain optical and mechanical components. This hardware deficiency inevitably results in lower image quality compared to dedicated cameras. To further improve smartphone photography, manufacturers have incorporated image stabilization technology. Image stabilization allows high-resolution smartphone cameras to achieve results closer to those of dedicated cameras. Currently, smartphone camera stabilization technologies primarily include: Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS); algorithmic stabilization; and High-ISO. Among these, algorithmic stabilization and High-ISO stabilization are the most commonly used. OIS is already implemented in flagship models from several well-known manufacturers, such as Nokia's Lumia 920.
Below is a brief introduction to these commonly used image stabilization methods.
Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) achieves image stabilization primarily by magnetically encasing and suspending the lens, effectively overcoming image blur caused by camera shake. This effect is particularly pronounced in digital cameras with large zoom lenses. Typically, a gyroscope within the lens detects minute movements and transmits the signal to a microprocessor, which immediately calculates the amount of displacement to be compensated. Then, a compensation lens group compensates for the direction and amount of lens shake, effectively overcoming image blur caused by camera vibration. The effect of optical image stabilization is quite noticeable; generally, enabling this function can increase shutter speed by 2-3 stops, preventing blurry handheld shooting. The effect is very noticeable for beginners, and the effect is also immediate in long-zoom digital cameras.
2. Algorithmic Image Stabilization (AIS), also known as electronic image stabilization, utilizes dynamic vectors for shake detection. Based on these dynamic vectors, it determines the direction and amount of image movement, using this as a reference to move the image position horizontally, thus generating a shake-free dynamic image.
